Harold O. Thompson, 67, of Arcola passed away on March 26, 2018. Harold was born on April 20, 1950 in Bozeman, Montana to Vivian and Harold David Thompson. He married Vickie Reinhardt on May 7, 1971 in St. Louis, Missouri, but soon after was stationed in Vietnam to serve his country in the United States Navy. After starting his family, he began the search that led him to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. They moved from Missouri to Texas in 1988 and were members of Living Stones Church. From the time they moved to Texas until his untimely passing, he worked for the Disabled American Veterans in Houston.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy and the time spent with them created many memories. There were many things that Harold enjoyed such as wheelin’ in his jeeps, traveling to small towns to look at the old houses, or eating his Blue Bell ice cream. He loved to joke and loved to share puns with anyone willing to listen. He could often be found in his shop tinkering around and there were always those projects waiting to be finished.
Those that preceded him in death include his parents and his sister, Sally Norman.
Left to remember him are his wife, Vickie Thompson; children: H. David Thompson II, Deanna Thompson and Christopher Crossgrove; brother and sisters: Leona Coffin, Carol Trees and David L. Thompson; grandchildren: Kaitlin, Matthew, Emily, Zoey, Iris and Christiana; and numerous other family members and friends; and all his stuff.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Living Stones Church with Pastor Rod Anderson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the National Vietnam War Museum at www.nationalvnwarmuseum.org.
