Karen Lynn (Holmgren) Penner

Karen Lynn Penner, age 52 of Jonestown, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 5, 2017 in Austin, Texas. She was born on July 20, 1965 in Canoga Park, California. Karen married the love of her life, Kevin J. Penner, on May 21, 1988 in Houston. The last church they attended was Keypoint Church in Cedar Park, Texas.

Karen found a love in cutting hair and worked as a barber. She found joy in being outdoors whether it was going to the lake, laying out in the sun or gardening. She liked drinking coffee and listening to music. She loved her cat, Patches, and her Boston Terriers, Dante and Coco Roo. Her greatest love though was her family and they have many cherished memories of their times spent together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russel and Sandra Holmgren; birth parents: Don Carver and Joyce La Von Askew; and sister, Dawn Carver.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Penner; children: Kevin John "Johnny" Penner and wife Valerie of Cedar Park, Texas, Naomi Lynn Penner of Austin, Texas, Amy Melissa Hatfield and husband Jason of Kemah, Texas, and Jamie Penner of Alvin, Texas; stepfather, Dallas Bauer of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brothers: Scott Holmgren and wife Donna of Panama City, Florida, Jason Carver and wife Olivia of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Richard Carver of La Mesa, New Mexico; and grandchildren: Ulysses, Kylie, Jett, Little Charlie, and Tori; nieces, nephews and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oak Park Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Park Chapel with Pastor Paul Golden officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery. The family would like to send a special thank you to those with the hospice team, especially Alex, Val and Beth. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Karen’s memory to Hospice Austin’s Christopher House at 2820 E. MLK Jr. Blvd., Austin, TX. 78702.
