Mary Morris (Metzger) Morrow

October 25, 1936 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Mary Morris (Metzger) Morrow went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 04, 2018. Mary was born on October 25, 1936 in Houston to Fred and Virginia (Morris) Metzger. She married James Monroe Morrow on October 24, 1958 in Angleton. They resided in Alvin where they raised their three children.

Mary was lovingly and faithfully devoted in her many roles in this world; she was daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, mentor, friend, and most importantly a precious child of God. She had patience, faith, and strength and had the ability to convey to others where those came from. Her Lord came first, but her family was what she treasured here on earth. As a member of Heights Baptist Church for nearly fifty years, she served in many roles including Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader, choir member, and WMU and Women’s Ministry leader. Mary had a special gift for ministering to women, encouraging, mentoring, and teaching them the Word of God. Countless women grew under her leadership. It is hard to imagine life without Mary Morrow in it, but how incredibly blessed we were to have her in our lives.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband James Morrow, parents Fred and Virginia Metzger, grandson Jonathan Simons, and brother Frank Metzger.

Mary is survived by daughters Cindy George and husband Ken of Alvin, Sandra Atkins and husband Jim of McAllen, son James Morrow, Jr. and wife Kristen of Austin; brother Bill Metzger and Karen of Alvin and sister Carol Metzger and Leslie Taylor of Houston; grandchildren Cristopher George and wife Bethany of Denton, Alex and Lucas Atkins of McAllen, Matt Atkins of Houston, Amanda Atkins of Austin, Elizabeth and Jake Morrow of Austin, Kayla Rund of New York, and Rex and Ruby Rund of Austin; great grandchildren Eleanor and Miles George of Denton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
