Ramon “Raymond” Peña Ortiz, age 90 of Manvel, passed away on March 20, 2017. He was born on October 5, 1926 in Fannin, Texas to parents, Emilio and Santos (Peña) Ortiz. Raymond moved from Fannin to Manvel in 1950 and had been a resident ever since. He met the love of his life, Polly, at a dance in Fannin. They were later married on August 27, 1953 in Angleton, Texas. He was a bus driver from the Alvin Independent School District. Raymond was of the Catholic faith and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Manvel. He served in the United States Army during World War II in The Pacific Campaign.
Raymond loved the outdoors, and he enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s baseball and football games.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Olivares Flores Ortiz; parents, Emilio and Santos Ortiz; brothers: Emilio, Alfredo, Margarito; sisters: Anita, Genoveva, Olivia, and Santos.
He is survived by his children: Diane Parker, Efrain Ortiz, Belinda Galvan, Maria Garcia and husband Daniel, Ray Ortiz, Glenda Tolar and husband James, Enelda Ortiz; brother, Daniel Ortiz and wife Eva; grandchildren: Melissa, Amy, Angie, Melanie, Robert, Leticia, Teresa, Amber, Tonya, Nicole, Anthony, Michael, Justin, Adam, Patrick, Emily; great grandchildren: Jasmyne, Devian, Anthony, Drew, Wylen, Jacob, Zaviour, Albert, Jaylan, Kolby, Dalilah, Taylor, Lily, Journee, Micah, Trinity, Nicolas, Danielle, Lucas, Vivian, Pierce, Cheyenne, Genevieve, Damien, Daisy, Londyn, Jenson, Dakota, Hazel Grace, Bradley, Izabella, Gaven, Lorenzo, Cameron; great-great grandchildren: Kallie and Leila; and numerous other family members and friends.
