Mary Bessie (Dann) Rhoads

Our community lost a longtime Alvin resident on Monday, April 1, 2024.  Mrs. Myralie (Mary) Bessie Rhoads, age 85, formerly of Iowa Colony passed away.  She was a graduate of Alvin High School in 1957.  Mary professed her faith in Christ as a child and now resides in the presence of her Savior.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and member of Heights Baptist Church, serving in the children’s Sunday School and the church nursery for over 45 years.  Mary also loved working in her flower beds, vegetable gardens, preserving and canning the fruit of her labor, and most of all was sharing these with those she knew.  Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Larry L. Rhoads, their three sons and their wives, Danny and Lina; Steve and Dottie; and Andy and Katie; and numerous grandchildren; sister, Aggie; brother, Buddy.  She was preceded in death by her parents Ross J and Rosemund May Dann, three sisters, Viola, Lillian, and Rosalie; and four brothers, Robert, Charles, Ross, and James.
