Anna Sue Whitley, age 70 of Alvin passed away on May 25, 2019. She was born in Alvin, Texas at a doctor’s clinic on December 15, 1948 to parents John Meinke and Mary Francis (Coffey) Meinke. She married her soul mate Willard Whitley on February 23, 1968.
Sue was a member of the Heights Baptist Church. She loved to be outdoors and go camping as well as travel. In her down time Sue enjoyed getting lost in a good book.
She is preceded in death by her parents; John and Mary Meinke: sisters; Alice Meinke and Pat Whitley: brothers; Robert Meinke and William Meinke.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband; Will Whitley: children; Karen Butler and husband Charles of Tombstone, Arizona, Julie Novark of Friendswood, Texas, and Scott Whitley and wife Kindell of Hallsville, Texas: brother; Larry Meinke and wife Patty of Evant, Texas: sisters; Johnnie Roberson of Manvel, Texas; Betty Moro and husband Bill of Alvin, Texas: brother-in-law; Ernie Whitley of LaGrange, Texas: sister-in-law; Jean Meinke of Alvin, Texas: grandchildren; Justin Waller, Kevin Novark, Jonathan Novark and Heather Butler Deaton and husband Jordan, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Sue graduated from Alvin High School in 1967. She went to work for the Alvin Advertiser, later named the Alvin Sun Advertiser and would continue that employment for 43 years until she retired in 2012.
Sue touched the lives of everyone who know her – stayed friends with several from school. Sheila Snipes Allen Williams, Alma Lee Crum Davis and many, many more (too many to list).
Services for Sue Whitley will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Oak Park Chapel. The Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in procession to Hayes Grace Memorial Park.
