Brenda Jo (Smith) Lane

Brenda Jo (Smith) Lane, better known as Mimi, age 73 of Alvin went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 27, 2017. Brenda was born on December 20, 1943 in Roscoe, Texas to parents William Ellis and Frances Inez (Waters) Smith. Brenda married the love of her life, Jackie Lane, on August 18, 1961 in Kermit, Texas. They moved from Meadows Place to Alvin in 1999 to be close to their children and grandchildren.

Brenda retired after 20 years of working for Harris County Flood Control.  She then drove special needs children for 15 years for Alvin Independent School District before she retired again 3 years ago. She loved going deer hunting but gave that up to go on cruises. She and Jackie made many memories as they traveled. Their love of going on cruises took them many places. Brenda loved her kids, and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her dad, William Ellis Smith, in 1968; and her mother, Frances Inez Smith, in 2001.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Jackie Lane; children: Doug Lane, and Kathy Windsor and husband Buck; grandchildren: Ian Windsor and wife Ashley, Colin Windsor and wife Shannon, Ethan Windsor and wife Stephanie, Dylan Windsor, Grayson Lane and Mikaela Lane; great grandchildren: Beckett, Declan, and Rowan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oak Park Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Oak Park Chapel with interment following at Oak Park Cemetery.
