David Edgar Newman

David Edgar Newman, 70, of Alvin passed away with his family by his side on May 5, 2018.

David, the baby of six kids, was born on August 10, 1947 to Walton Neopleon Newman and Minnie Mae Sewell Newman. While in high school he was a saddle bronc champion. He graduated from Alvin High School in 1966 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp shortly after. He served one stay until 1978.  After his time in the military David worked in the plants for the better part of thirty years and retired in 2009.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Walton and Minnie Mae Newman; daughter, Kerry Newman; three brothers: Leon, Mike, and James Newman; and two sisters: Juanita Seir and Inis Poppowell.

He is survived by his son: James “Casey” Newman; his daughters: Kimberly Mills and husband Jason, Kelly Maness and husband Craig, and Shawni Batten, all of Alvin; grandchildren: Wyatt Adams, Joshua Knight, Trey Mueller, Cody Vollburn, Kaylee Ann Brasher, Charles William Brasher, Bella Madison Brasher, several others not listed; and countless nieces, nephews, family members and close friends.
