An Alvin native, Debra “Debbie” Franklin went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 16, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63. She was surrounded by her family in her final moments.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years Wesley Franklin; son Marcus Hurst; daughter Angela and her husband Bill Clarke; son Jeremy Franklin; daughter-in-law Jessica Franklin; father Bill Burris; sister Bambi Burris; brothers William, Ned, and Mikey Burris and their wives; sisters Joy Richardson, Polly Oursland, Susan Den, Peggy Richardson, and Tammy Meredith and their spouses. She is also survived by her grandchildren Blake Franklin and Amy Ates as well as many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother Aline Burris; brother Marty Dentler; and her sons Wesley Franklin, Jr., Layton Davenport and Matthew Franklin.
A one-of-a-kind personality, Debbie was a fun-loving spirit who lived every minute of her life to the fullest. Her friends and family knew her as a spit fire who wasn’t afraid to use colorful language or to tell people exactly what was on her mind. She was a die-hard Texans fan who spent every Sunday during football season screaming at her T.V. and cheering on the home team. She also spent many days behind a 777 or KENO machine. Her love of sports and gambling was only surpassed by her love for her family and her dogs. Warm-hearted, she made sure every one of her children knew how much she loved them. Her most cherished times were when her family was all under one roof having dinner and making memories.
