Elvira Reyes, age 93, of Alvin passed away on January 21, 2020. She was born on June 21, 1926 in Malakoff, Texas. Her mother, Margarita Sanchez, and stepfather, Mariano Reyes, raised her to be an outstanding woman. Elvira had been an Alvin resident for 78 years and was the oldest of her siblings. Everyone knew her as “Nana.” She married Felix Reyes, Sr. in January of 1946.
Elvira was crafty with her hands. You could catch her sewing and crocheting in her spare time. She also loved her coffee and her sweets. Her baking was amazing! Every time you walked through the door you could smell the food she was making in the kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Reyes, Sr.; parents, Mariano and Margarita Rodriquez; son, Felix Reyes, Jr.; and granddaughter, Tammy Pendleton.
Those left to cherish her memory is her children: Florence Gutierrez and husband Jerry of Alvin, Alfred Reyes of Liverpool, and Alfonzo Reyes of Lake Jackson; siblings: Olivia, Margaret, Lizzie, Robert, and Paul; 10 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
Services for Elvira will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Oak Park Chapel. Visitation is set to start at 10:00 a.m. and the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Avelino Da Silva officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery.
