Jessie Weldon Glaze, Sr.

Jessie Weldon Glaze, Sr., 81, of Joaquin, Texas made his way home on August 14, 2018 in Pearland, Texas at the home of his daughter.  Everyone has a life journey and his began on April 20, 1937 in Logan, Texas where he was born to John Henry and Clara (Wilburn) Glaze. He grew up in Logansport and Joaquin. He lived a life that may have seemed ordinary to some, but his life story was a treasure to all who truly knew him. He married Jerrell Dean Gray on February 18, 1957. They raised their family in both Joaquin and Pearland.

He enjoyed finding treasures at flea markets and garage sales, especially lawn mowers and tools. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed mowing, tending to his flowers and fruit trees. He will be most remembered for his green thumb. If he could leave one word of wisdom behind it would be “Damn.” He also wanted those he loved to understand that you are not living if you are not making mistakes. He was everything to every one of his loved ones; a good daddy, a great Paw and an incredible husband. His presence is going to be greatly missed.

Jessie was preceded in death by his mother and father: Clara and John Henry Glaze; brothers and sister: Junior, James, Burke, Olen, Sybil and Henry Elvis; great granddaughter Aubrey; and his best friend: his fur friend Oscar.

Those left to remember him are his wife Jerrell Dean Glaze; children: Jessie (Buster) Glaze Jr. and wife Cara,  Sandra Hassell Villarreal and husband John, and Sherry Finch; brother:  Nolen Glaze Sr. and wife Lois; sister: Dorjean; grandchildren: Angela Kouldeka and husband Heath, Marvin Hassell and wife Alicia, Matthew Finch, Ashley Finch, Stephan Finch and wife Diane, Jessie Finch, Cody Adams and wife Hailey, and Courtney Swor and husband Taylor; great grandchildren: Travis Finch, Brayden Kouldeka, Weylond Hassell, Wayne Harcrow, Harper Finch and Gemma Finch; and numerous other family members and friends.

Services for Jessie Glaze, Sr. will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Oak Park Chapel. The Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Judi Wilds officiating.
