John Anderson Quinn

John Anderson Quinn, age 72 of Alvin, Texas, passed away on December 16, 2017 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born on September 12, 1945 in Texas City, Texas to parents, Charles Alvie Quinn and Juanita Filer Quinn. John was a lifetime resident of Alvin, Texas. He married the love of his life, Judy Miesner Quinn, on November 14, 1970. John was a champion steer wrestler. He loved horses, hanging with his Vietnam buddies, history, and traveling. He adored his girls and his grandbabies. Those closest to him know him by his nickname “Cowboy” because of his rodeo skills. He was also referred to as “The Mighty Quinn.” He was also a Vietnam Vet and a member of the 11th Armored Calvary, B Troop. Throughout his life he made numerous donations to the Armored Calvary and the American Diabetes Association. He also attended the Chocolate Bayou Cowboy Church in Alvin, Texas.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Juanita Quinn; and his brother, Charles Quinn.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Quinn of Alvin; daughters: Jennifer Quinn of Alvin, Texas, Jana Gordon and husband Mark of Sanford, Florida, Julie Quinn Loosmore and husband Beau of Alvin, Texas; sister, Ollie Grace Welch of Thorndale, Texas; and his grandbabies, Evie Loosmore and Mason Gordon.

The viewing will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Oak Park Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas with a Celebration of Life following immediately after at the Senior Center in Alvin, Texas. He will be interred at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Houston, Texas in January 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to be made to fund a scholarship that will be set up in John’s name. Donations can be made to 11th Armored Calvary Veterans Vietnam Cambodia in care of Ollie Pickral at 571 Ditchley Rd. Kilmarnock, Virginia 22482.
