Joseph David Putch, Sr., age 84 of Manvel, passed away on January 4, 2019 in Pearland. He was born on February 27, 1934 in Texarkana, Texas to parents, Charles Putch and Myrtie Hunter. Joseph moved from Houston forty two years ago and had been a resident of Manvel ever since. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas in 1957. That same year on September 13th he married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Knight, in Texarkana. Joseph became a research scientist who loved to hunt and tend to his garden. He also worked for the VA Medical Center for thirty eight years. Anyone that was close to Joseph knew that he was a football fanatic—no phone calls were taken during football time!
Joseph was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles and Myrtie Putch; daughter, Julianne Putch Gilbert; sister, Mary Sorsby; and brother, Thomas Putch.
Left to cherish the many memories is: his wife of sixty one years, Mary Ellen Putch; children: Deborah Putch Kendrick, Joseph David Putch, Jr. and wife Christina, John David Putch, and Charles William Billy Putch and wife Samantha; sister, Carmel Waters and husband Harry; brother, Sam Putch and wife Jane; brother in law, John William Knight; grandchildren: Shara Kendrick, Joseph Tyler Putch, Rebecca Putch, Benjamin Putch, Grant Putch, Ashley Bell, Abby Putch, Hunter Putch, and Hayden Putch; great grandson, Christian Rivas and several other great grandchildren.
Services for Joseph David Putch, Sr. will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Oak Park Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will follow starting at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Putch officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery.
