Marshall Wayne Sorrells

Marshall “Wayne” Sorrells, 75, of Alvin passed away on April 6, 2017. He was born on March 19, 1942 in West Columbia, Texas to parents, Luby and Virleen (Slaughter) Sorrells. Wayne moved from West Columbia to Alvin 49 years ago. He married the love of his life, Ann Sorrells, on October 22, 1966 at Texas Children’s Hospital in Gonzales, Texas.

Wayne loved watching baseball and telling jokes. He also enjoyed going fishing and bowling, singing, and spending time with his grandkids.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Luby and Virleen Sorrells; and sisters, Vicki Harrison and JoAnn Kazmire.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Sorrells of Alvin; children: Laura Ann Sutton and husband Zeke of Alvin, James Ray Sutton of Bay City, and Linda Denise Martinez and husband Jerry of Alvin; sister, Nancy O’Daniel of The Woodlands; grandchildren: Jerry Jr., Corina, Kristen, LaNae, Corey, Brandon, Brianna, Aaron, Cody, Karissa; 22 great grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Calvary Crossroads Church in Santa Fe.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Wayne’s memory to go towards The Church Building Fund at Calvary Crossroads in Santa Fe, Texas.
