Thomas Benton Hicks III

July 31, 1936 ~ July 2, 2018 (age 81)

Thomas Benton Hicks III, 81, of Alvin, went to be with his Lord and Savior and his precious wife on July 2, 2018. Tom began his journey on this earth on July 31, 1936 in San Antonio when born to Thomas Benton Hicks II and Helen (Townsend) Hicks. Tom joined the United States Navy in 1954 before marrying the love of his life, Eleanor Huntley, in April of 1969. He continued to serve his country until 1975 when he retired to pursue additional work adventures.  

Tom loved Jesus, his wife and his children in that order.  He loved sports and greatly enjoyed watching the Houston Astros, the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed playing card games with his wife and friends. He was a storyteller that had an adventurous soul and liked to travel and loved to laugh.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his wife Eleanor, and his granddaughter Ashley Charlotte Hicks. He is survived by his children: Pam Moxley and husband Terry of Montana, Randy Hicks and wife Laurie of Humble, Tom Hicks and wife Cathy of Alvin, Shelly Queen and husband Rick of Lampasas, and Joe Hicks and wife Renee of McKinney; grandchildren: Derick, R.J., Kyle, Andrew, Belen, Allison, Amanda, Nathan, Ricaé, Nichole, Maycie, Dylan, Larry, Coleman and McKenna; great grandchildren: Eli, Ethan, Elyse and Adeline; and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 9, 2018 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Oak Park Funeral Home in Alvin. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, on Veterans Memorial Drive with Bro. Al Perry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ashley Hicks Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations may be made to the Ashley Hicks Scholarship Fund through the Alvin ISD Education Foundation. Donations can be made:
