Tommy Ray Adams, 74, of Alvin passed away on June 6, 2018. Tommy was born on August 9, 1943 to parents Ira Ross and Vivian “Peggy” (Bennett) Adams in Corpus Christi, Texas. He married Carolyn “Carol” Hyden on June 11, 1966 at Premont Church of Christ. They were married 52 years, almost 53.
Tommy served his country proudly in the United States Army. After his time spent in the Army he went in to law enforcement, and this was his passion. He served in Brazoria County, was a detective in Iowa Park, Texas, Chief of Police in Waelder, Texas and then spent thirteen years as a correctional officer in Lockhart, Texas. His other enjoyment came from reading and he found time with a good book to be time well spent.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Vivian Adams; brother, Harley Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Adams; daughter: Iris Sullivan and husband Shawn of Burkburnett; brothers and sisters: Geneva Brookshire and husband Mikel, Pamela Caylor and husband Robert, Vivian Theiler and husband Jerry, Edwin Adams and Valerie Kruger, Deborah Wienckoski and husband Dave; grandchildren: Gina, Amy Jo, Harley, and Colt; great grandchildren: Braelyn, Kanon, and Teagan; and many nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
