Carleton Edward Anderson

Retired Lieutenant Commander USN, Carleton Edward Anderson, age 81, went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loving family.

Carlton was born January 10, 1938 in Taylor, Texas at the home of Uncle Gordon Anderson and Grandmother Ida Anderson. His parents, Edward Robert Anderson and Lelia Latilda Priest. 

1961 – Carlton received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English, Biology and Military Science from the University of Texas at Austin. He received a certificate of completion of Arabic Language training at the Defense Language Training Institute in Washington D.C.  He also received a Master’s Degree in Linguistics through Georgetown University and Old Dominion University.

1961 -1970- Carleton served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy with duty assignments as communication officer aboard an ammunition ship, as Officer-in-Charge of the Armed Forces Courier Transfer Station in Hawaii, Defense Special Missile and Astronautics Officer with the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland, and as Naval Intelligence Officer aboard a Geographic/Technical Research Ship in the Mediterranean Sea.

1970 - 1997 – Carleton was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs as Chief of Veterans Services and Education Liaison Officer at the VA Regional Offices in Little Rock Arkansas, St. Louis Missouri and Houston, Texas. Carlton retired from federal civil service in January 1997.

He is survived by his children Charlton Reid Anderson and wife Susan, Patrick Edward Anderson and wife Bernadine, Angela Innocenta Helman and Bob Arriaga, Heidi Ann Anderson and husband Daniel Otto. Three stepchildren Samantha Francesca Costa and husband Alex, Ericka Esquivel and husband Daniel, and Paris Soliz. He has eight grandchildren, Gordon Edward Anderson, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Chahar and husband Anu, Max Helman, Xavier Noel Rodriguez, Izabel Danielle Esquivel, Annabelle Faith Esquivel, Miranda Lydia Quintanilla, Daniel Olvera Esquivel III, Alexander Adoniah Costa, Christian Carleton Costa, and Graciella Rose Costa, One brother Joe Juricak and two sisters Mary Juricak Dubec, Susan Duffey and preceded in death by Peggy Drexler. Carleton had many friends and was generous to those in need. He will be dearly missed.
