Dewana June (Carwile) McCurdy

Dewana June (Carwile) McCurdy, 84, of Alvin went to her heavenly home on October 20, 2018. Dewana was born on September 13, 1934 in Conroe to John and Naomi (André) Carwile. She moved to Alvin in the early ‘70s. She married James McCurdy on October 20, 1989 in Brazoria County, Texas. She was an LVN and worked in the medical field for 20 years.

Dewana enjoyed being around people and loved to go out dancing.  She also loved to bowl and did so for many years. For relaxation she would pick up a good book and spend time reading. Her family was most important to her and time spent with them was treasured.

Dewana was preceded in death by her husband James McCurdy, parents John and Naomi Carwile, and her siblings: Deralde Carwile and LaVerne Sassin.

Those left to remember her include her daughter Cheryl Terry of Houston; grandsons: Darrell Terry of Austin, and Travis Terry and wife Brandie of Rosenberg; great grandson Wyatt Terry; and numerous other family members and friends. The family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding care and kindness extended by Elysian Hospice and the staff of Laurel Court.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Park Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
