Doris J. Miller, a resident of Bacliff, Texas, was born in Little Neck, N.Y. on 6/9/27. At age 16, she moved to San Diego, California with her family and completed high school and college (San Diego State University) graduating with a degree in Psychology.
After marrying Guy M. Miller in 1947, she and her husband moved to Texas, where she obtained employment as a caseworker at De Pelchin Faith Home in Houston. She worked there intermittently, taking time off to have her family.
Mrs. Miller received a degree in education in 1974 from the University of Houston and taught fourth grade from 1974 until her retirement in 1992. Most of that time was spent working at A.B. Freeman Elementary and Golden Acres Elementary in the Pasadena Independent School District.
She enjoyed her relationship with several churches during her many years residing in the Clear Lake area, including the First Presbyterian Church in Webster, Texas, the First Methodist Church in Dickinson, Texas, and most recently, the Moody Memorial Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her three sons, Guy Gregory Miller (Nancy), Jeffrey Gerald Miller (Margie) and Stephen Michael Miller, her five grandchildren, Chris Miller (Colleen Cook), Valerie Miller, Adam Miller (Carey), Eric Miller (Missy), and Jonathan Miller (Kari Bennington) and seven great grandchildren, Mia, Emma, Cate, River, Wyatt, Cade, and Eli.
A private celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, July 31st.
