Harry Walter Konzem, age 87, of Pearland passed away on January 27, 2020 in Webster. He was born on September 16, 1932 in Houston but raised in Tipton, Kansas by his grandmother. Harry moved back to Houston when he started college at the University of Houston. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Harry served in the United States Army in Active Duty, in the Reserves, and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He worked for the Houston Astros as a computer operations manager, where he met Sharon Olsen. On June 29, 1991, Harry and Sharon got married in Houston and made their home in Pearland.
Harry was a Deacon in the Catholic Church, a Boy Scout Leader and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as a Volunteer Firefighter in Arcola and Pearland, and also drove a school bus for both the Pearland and Friendswood school districts. Harry also loved his wood working and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle L. (Loving) Konzem; his father and stepmother, Sylvester Frank Konzem and Mary; and his daughter, Catherine Marie Konzem.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sharon Konzem; his children: Greg Konzem and wife Andrea of The Woodlands, Jim Konzem and wife Patty of Humble, Susie Konzem of Friendswood, Mike Konzem and wife Beverly of Pearland, John Konzem and girlfriend Stephanie Martin of Pearland, Shelley Rhodes and husband Rusty of Burnet, Robin Roy and husband Heinz of Dallas, and Dana McNatt and husband Jeff of Friendswood; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Oak Park Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Park Chapel with Deacon Derick officiating. Interment will follow in procession to South Park Cemetery. A celebration will be held at Mike and Bev Konzem’s residence following the burial.
