Hazel Marjorie “Patty” Roden, age 90, of Alvin, Texas passed away on October 29, 2020. Hazel was born on April 25, 1930, in Liverpool, Texas to parents Steve VanNorman and Ella Clement VanNorman. She graduated from Alvin High School in 1947. First and foremost, Hazel was a dedicated member with the Alvin Museum Society and a coordinator of Class Of ’47 high school reunions. A longtime member of Monsanto/Solutia Retirees and Brazoria County Old Timers association. She married her husband, F. A. Roden on May 21, 1949 in Liverpool, Texas. Some of her favorite hobbies included dancing to music, traveling and spending quality time with her family. She also enjoyed watching old western films and one of her favorite actors was Chuck Norris.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, F. A. Roden; her parents, Steve and Ella VanNorman; and her siblings: Bob VanNorman, G. W. VanNorman, L. M. VanNorman and Lucille VanNorman. She is survived by her children: Robby Roden and wife Toni of West Columbia, Randy Roden and wife Donna Richey of Liverpool, and Melinda Gay Prevost and husband Tom of Liverpool; her sister Vivian Tomlinson of Angleton; her grandchildren Colinda, Robby Jr,Rendi, Matthew, and Holly; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Liverpool Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 358 Alvin, TX 77512.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Oak Park Chapel with a Graveside Service following at 1:00 p.m. at Liverpool Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at frobergfuneralhomeatoakpark.com.
