Jimmy Lee Ratcliff

December 5, 1938 ~ December 5, 2020 (age 82)

Obituary

Jimmy Lee Ratcliff, age 82, of Alvin was called up to Heaven on December 5, 2020 the same day of the month that he came into this world. He was born on December 5, 1938 in Hillister, Texas to Cecil Christopher and loving mother Bertha Edna Ratcliff and grew up in Spurger, Texas with his six brothers. In his young adult life he had three children. He adored them and made so many memories for them to cherish. In 1974 he started the next phase of his life and became a new man when he married his very patient and loving wife, Ruth - who he liked to call “his Ruthie”. Together they blended four children and then had their youngest who would forever keep them young. He and his wife became members of Skyview Baptist Church in 1999. His relationship with God was of great importance to him and he enjoyed reading and studying God’s Word. He was the spiritual head of the family and we would look forward to the gatherings at holidays when he would lead us in prayer. He was constant for so many in life. He was a loving husband, proud dad, honored grandpa. He loved bragging about his wife, kids, and especially his grandkids. Everywhere he and his sidekick Izzy went, you would hear his name, "Paw Paw",  called out with joy. He lived a full life and touched so many with his humor and kind heart. He was always ready with a joke, a smile, and a hug.  Jim was also an avid sports fan and loved his Astros and Cowboys. He will be greatly missed but he left so much of his love and infectious humor here with us. He would not want tears or too much sadness. His legacy will live on in his grandchildren and great grandchildren – who just like his own children, thought he was a superhero and will cherish the man he became.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Christopher and Bertha Eden Ratcliff; brothers: J.E. Ratcliff, Herschel Ratcliff, Billy Wayne Ratcliff, Jeff Ratcliff, C.L. Ratcliff and Tom Ratcliff; and son in law, Johnny Ard.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ruth Ratcliff; children: Christie Clagett and husband Tony, Teresa Eddins and husband Billy, Traci Etheridge and husband Billy Hinson, Jimmy David Ratcliff and wife Michelle, Paula Ard, and Kari Eddins; grandchildren: Michael McCasland, Jimmy McCasland and wife Ashley, Trinity Courtright, Amanda Manous and husband Jeff, Rusty Eddins, Trudy Jones and husband Tellis, Angela Lankford and husband Tex, Jamie Ard, Josh Ratcliff, Christopher Ratcliff, Devon Sparrow, Seth Sparrow, Kaitlynn Sparrow, Kristen Robertson, Kellie Etheridge, Cody Clagett and wife Sydney, and Caitlynn Clagett; great grandchildren: Triston Eddins, Alyssa Eddins, Blake McCasland, Ashton McCasland, Kyleigh McCasland, Callen Clagett, Tabytha Sparrow, Zaden Vera, Ty Manous and wife Kayleigh, Triton Manous, Jaden Shields, Kaylee Shields, Gary Allen Ard, Amber Ard, Savannah Lankford, Tori Lankford, Mia Ard, Saoirse Sparrow, Jaxsin Sparrow; great-great grandchildren: Landon Raab and Sylas Manous; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
