Juan Jose “Joe”” Fuentes, 70, of Alvin passed away on August 27, 2020. Joe was born on July 20, 1950 in Alice, Texas. Joe met his beloved wife Linda in Olney, Texas whom he married on March 30, 1968. After starting a family, they moved to Midland, Texas where he took a temporary position that lasted 42 years. In Midland, he also began his 3 decade passion for coaching little league sports. In 1978, Joe, Linda, and family moved to Alvin, Texas.
In Alvin, after a couple of additions to his family, Joe continued coaching/managing football, basketball, softball, and even co-founded the Alvin Raiders. Joe also encouraged all his children to do well in school, to participate in church activities, and to play in the band.
Joe loved fishing, dancing, and drinking. He also played several musical instruments, was a member of the NRA, the Knights of Columbus, and an Acolyte at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Joe was loved by all, never knew a stranger, was the life of the party and was a man everyone wanted to be around. His Texas sized heart and infectious smile would capture the hearts of many.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife Herlinda Fuentes, parents: Lucila and George Morgan, and father George Fuentes (Consuelo), grandson Jimmy Salas, and numerous relatives.
He is survived by his children: Mary Isabelle Manuel and husband Dave, Jon Samuel Fuentes and wife Adelina, Kelly Jo Salas and husband Javier, and Daniel Jay Fuentes; 9 grandchildren: Leslie, Lauren, Michael, Alex, Joseph, Alinda, Maya, Jake, Josiah; great grandson Thomas; and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, and God children.
