Lucille (Harris) Rice

Lucille Rice, 100, of Manvel went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 8, 2021.  Lucille was born on January 2, 1921 to parents Bervick Harris and Anna Capdevillie in Abbeville, Louisiana.  She married the love of her life, Mancel Rice, on December 30, 1950 in Abbeville, Louisiana. Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, singing in the church choir and celebrating with her family and friends.  She also loved the Lord and her church, New St. Phillip Baptist Church.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Mancel Rice Sr.; parents Bervick and Anna Harris; brother James Harris; sister Margaret Allen; son Mancel Rice Jr.; and Godson who she reared as her own Lloyd Huntley Jr.; grandchildren: Raymond Petry Jr., Mancel Aaron Rice, and Marcelle Petry.

She is survived by her children: Annie Belle Small and husband Donald, Fenton Petry, Raymond Petry, and Sharon Roberts and husband Frank; she also had many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

Due to Covid restrictions all are invited to a come and go Viewing on Saturday March 13, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at New St. Phillip Baptist Church. Masks are required. A Private Family Service will follow. The Service will be available to the public via Live Streaming.
