Marie Marie (Davenport) West

Margie Marie West,94, was called home by our lord and savior on Tuesday, January 16,2024. She was born on April 29, 1929 in Rockdale, Texas. She is the oldest of three children of Melvin and Anabel (Pruitt) Davenport.

Born and raised by her father and her grandmother Pruitt. Completing her education, she and some of her friends moved south to Galveston Island, Texas. She loved Galveston and found work with the Moody Foundations. There she met her husband-to-be, Leroy Arthur West, just returning home from service in the marines during World War II. They both were soon married; to this union four children were born. This happy marriage lasted 49 and a half years until our savior called Leroy home. Margie was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and  home maker. She loved her church, all her church friends, the book club, garden club, reading and traveling. Margie and Leroy traveled and have seen all the United States, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, Central America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The most favorite of her travels was taking her daughters to see the pyramids, sailing on the Nile and seeing the Greek isles.

Margie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Leroy West, sons; George West and Arthur Duane west, siblings; Roy Davenport and Janet Doreen Droll.

Survivors include her children, Charles Eugene West, Deborah (West)Hollimon and her husband Al Hollimon, grandchildren; Shannon (Hollimon) Greenfield, Courtney (Hollimon) Vivino, Ashley (West) Carr and Raven Bell, great-grandchildren; Gabby and Baylee Greenfield, Victoria, Katelynn Packard and Harrison Vivino, Ethan and Cara. Amongst many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
