Mary Edith (Sheaffer) Forgy, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on May 21, 2018. Mary Edith began her journey here on this Earth on August 8, 1929 when she was born to parents Paul and Ola Belle (Voris) Sheaffer. She married Bobby Clarence Forgy on March 15th, 1947 in Alvin. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Robert Sheaffer. Left to treasure many precious memories are her children: Margie Winget and husband Phil; Bobbie Ann Bishop and husband Allen; and Michael Forgy and wife LeAnn.
Grandchildren: Patrick Winget and wife Lucy; Amy (Winget) Lewis and husband Monte; JimBob Forgy and wife Jessica; Kristin (Bishop) Powers and husband Brandon; Jared Forgy and wife Tiffany; Jana Bishop; Guy Forgy and wife Jessica; and Jonathan Forgy and wife Ashton.
Great-grandchildren: Donovan, Darren, and Devyn Lewis; Harley Winget; Thomas and Greyson Powers; Owen and Perri Forgy; Emma Forgy; Dawson Forgy; Annalise Forgy.
She is also survived by her sister Anita Anderson and sister-in-law Mary Sikes as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Nana was a lifetime resident of Alvin, where she went to school, was married, and reared her three children. After being widowed at an early age, she continued to work for Alvin ISD, where she retired, and continued to run the family business until 1990. She was also a long-time volunteer for Walt Disney Elementary. She was a role model and an inspiration, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m. at Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Joe McArthur officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the Forgy Family asks that donations be directed to the Alvin ISD Education Foundation which will be used to support deserving kids with college tuition.
