Robert was born in Hugo, OK, lived in Paris, TX and moved to Houston, TX with his family when he was a teenager. He graduated from Smiley High School in 1957. Shortly thereafter he met Maida, at the local roller rink, and had a whirlwind love affair that brought them together in marriage the following April. Their family grew rapidly, and he soon discovered that his carpenter work alone would not be enough to care for them. He joined the Houston Fire Department in 1960, serving 30 years in the department until he retired in 1990. He moved his family from Houston to Alvin, TX in 1977 and was a resident of Alvin upon his passing. He was a member of the Bayou Drive Baptist Church in Alvin. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, car enthusiast and classic films lover. He is loved deeply and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations in his name to Bayou Drive Baptist Church Missions Fund or Firefighters Helping Firefighters.
